Two Georgia high schools are listed among the Top 100 public high schools in U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 edition of Best High Schools.
The Georgia schools are Gwinnett School of Mathematics Science and Technology (No. 27) and Columbus High School (No. 80).
Two other Georgia public high schools almost made the Top 100 list. DeKalb School of the Arts is ranked No. 102. Savannah Arts Academy is ranked No. 104.
The other Georgia school within the Top 200 is Davidson Magnet at No. 188. The publication says it reviewed 19,908 schools as part of the report, which was released early Tuesday. U.S. News says that at top schools:
- Students perform better than expected in their state
- Disadvantaged students perform better than state average
- Student graduation rates meet or exceed national standard
- Students are prepared for college-level work
